To continue commemorating the company’s 160th anniversary this year, Tag Heuer is pleased to welcome a new member to their beloved Carrera series. Following a recent publication of the Tag Heuer Carrera Sport Chronograph 44mm Calibre Heuer 02 Automatic, the company has made this new offering. 

Despite appearing identical to the Carrera Sport Chronograph, the new Tag Heuer Carrera has its personality and background. The 42mm stainless steel casing of the TAG Heuer Carrera Classy Chrono is 2mm smaller than the Carrera Sports. Although the variation might not seem like much, it might be sufficient to draw in new customers who had initially rejected the innovations of the Sport version.

The Elegant model’s slimmer bezel and stepped structure with multiple facets contribute to its appearance of being smaller. The sapphire crystal gradually curves over the dial and has a faceted edge.

Longtime Heuer admirers will notice that, despite the absence of red hues, the hourly and minute markers’ design is very similar to those used on first Monaco in 1969. The markers are openworked close to the fulcrum of the dial, as well as the entire grooved area is filled with white Super-LumiNova.

The baton-style indicators have a purposeful downward path as they move toward the dial’s center. This design element is meant to interact with lighting. The index’s curving top surface is divided into smaller sections by a tiny groove to enable accurate read-off. Every index is followed by a little rectangular portion of Super-LumiNova that is subtly sunk inside a groove.

Two snailed counters dominate the dial: a 30-minute Chrono register placed at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour Chrono display across from it. The hands on both displays are thin and coated with rhodium. Every register’s surrounding track is inclined and slopes upwards when it gets closer to the subdial’s edge. The registers are further separated from the rest of the dial by this subtle depth-playing detail.

At six o’clock, a little seconds indicator is located. This indicator has a delicate, reserved aspect compared to the other registers. The owner can use it as needed, but this doesn’t detract from the other hands. Compared to the little seconds featured on the Carrera Sport, the design aspect is particularly distinctive. Also, there is a date window at six o’clock, and on the dial’s outer flange, there is a minute tracker.

Many of TAG Heuer’s latest versions come with the Calibre Heuer 02 Automatic. The outstanding power reserve of the Calibre Heuer 02 Automatic, created at the company’s exclusive movement department in Chevenez, is 80 hours. The oscillation weight is displayed in golden hues and has an open-worked design. The Côtes de Genève design may be seen on the bridges and the oscillation weight. 33 jewels make up the movement, with a rate of 28,800 vph (4Hz) for the balance.
