Legendary actor Steve McQueen wearing a TAG Heuer

The late legendary actor Steve McQueen, an ambassador of TAG Heuer, wore in the 1971 film ‘Le Man’ the classic Monaco – a model still synonymous with him and also the public beginning of this iconic timepiece.

It features a 39mm wide stainless steel case with a blue baton sunburst dial that has red detailing, on a black leather strap.

Overall Description

TAG Heuer is a Swiss watchmaker. Monaco, an unstoppable force on the planet of exquisite watchmaking, was named after the Monaco Grand Prix, an annual Formula 1 motor racing conducted at the Circuit de Monaco. This timepiece altered history by introducing features that everyone else in the universe had yet to imagine. It was the first square-cased water-resistant timepiece with a chronograph built-in. It received acclaim for being the first automatic square-cased Chrono clock, powered by the famed chronomatic caliber 11.

Monaco, a TAG Heuer star, demonstrates technological excellence in every detail of its layout. The minute and hourly markers on the dials are placed at the 9 and 3 o’clock hour-markers accordingly. The push buttons are also positioned at the watch casing’s 2 and 4 o’clock positions. At 6 o’clock, most Monaco timepieces have a hand-applied date display that safely replaces the hour-marker without interfering with the dial’s readability.

Furthermore, this TAG Heuer has diamond-tipped hour indicators rather than painted numbers, making it one-of-a-kind in every way. The watch also has a square casing, and the crown is placed at 3 o’clock on the piece case, rather than 9 o’clock on the original model.

The two-subdial Chrono with a stunning blue dial is an undeniable ageless symbol of refinement, style, rebellion, and superb performance. Blue alligator racing straps are just as appealing today as they were on Steve McQueen’s hand in the 1970s.

On the other hand, the dial’s color scheme is faithful to Steve McQueen’s previous design. They include a blue metal sunray dial, silver and white accents, and red center and subdial hands. The refined and satin-brushed steel casing measures 39 mm in diameter. Attracts light from all sides. An angled hole at 6 o’clock shows the date below the exquisite arched crystal. The hourly and minute markers, as well as the interval indicators, are silver-toned.

This classic TAG Heuer features a 100m/330ft waterproofness mark, making it great for swimming, a cold bath, or diving. It also has a sleek and glossy appearance.

A scratch-resistant sapphire crystal is employed on the front and back of the case. The back of the casing is held by four screws and has engravings such as the series themes and the limited edition number. The sapphire crystal allows you to view the automated movement in action.

The piece comes with a black leather bracelet with black engraving. The inner of the strap is a vibrant red calfskin leather featuring complementing red stitching. The alligator leather strap is secured by a stainless steel push-button folding buckle with TAG Heuer markings on one face as well as the Heuer logo on the other.
